|Hawthorn Class 2017/2018||
We have loved reading our first Pete the Cat book called 'Pete the Cat Rocking in my school shoes'! In the book Pete explores the different areas in his school. Then Pete the Cat came to visit our school where he went exploring! Everyday we had to go and find him in a different part of the school. He got up to lots of fun things in Powerstown ETNS! Have a look at our pictures to see the places he visited.
We had lots of fun baking rice krispie buns this week. We remembered tof wash our hands so that we could get stuck right in! First we used the list to check that we had everything we needed and then we followed the recipe step by step. We got to take some home to show our families and treated ourselves to some more during Golden time on Friday!
The children having been loving our new gardening area. They have enjoyed lots of digging, planting and watering.
This week we were delighted to welcome back Billy, Alex and Rafael and to welcome some new faces, Sean, Rafita and Kacper to the Hawthorn Class. We are so excited to begin this new school year. Look at how much fun we are having already!
We would like to invite parents to attend our annual Family Appreciation Day tomorrow!
The BBQ will kick off at 12.30pm in the courtyard (weather permitting!!). 1st-6th classes will be brought down with their class teacher to eat some food and have some fun and they will then return to their classes as normal. Junior and Senior Infant classes will be released to their parents at 13.10pm as usual and parents are then asked to bring them along to the BBQ. Everyone will receive a ticket that they can exchange for their BBQ treat! Parents can attend the event from 12.30pm and are invited to bring along any salad accompaniments they would like to share with each other.
Please ensure you let your class teacher know (if they don't already) if there are specific foods your child is not permitted to eat during this event. There will be music, dancing and playground games so there will be lots of fun alongside the food so everyone should have a lovely afternoon. We look forward to seeing you there to celebrate all our fantastic families following another amazing year in P.E.T.N.S.!
On Thursday 8th June the Hawthorn Class joined Junior Infants on a trip to Rathbeggan Lakes. The rain didn't dampen our spirits as we fed animals and enjoyed the bouncy castles and slides. When the sun came out, we embraced the mud as we slid down hills and jumped in muddy puddles! A little dirt never hurt anyone and the kids and adults had a blast!
We are absolutely loving our new space and feel very at home already. Have a look at our photos to see us learning and having fun!
